Engines and performance

You can get a new 2023 Ford F-150 in a variety of engines. There’s a 3.3-liter V6 with 290 horsepower, a 5.0-liter V8 with 400 horsepower, a 2.7-liter V6 that's twin turbocharged and good for 325 horsepower, a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with 400 horsepower or a 3.0-liter diesel V6 that comes with 250 horsepower and plenty of torque.

Ford also offers a hybrid powertrain for the first time consisting of a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 and an electric motor. The combined result is 400 horsepower and up to 700 miles of driving range per tank. A four-wheel drive Ford F-150 Lariat with a hybrid hybrid powertrain can zoom from zero to 60 mph in a scintillating 5.4 seconds.

Towing and payload capacity

The base level 3.3-liter V6 engine can give you a maximum towing capacity of 8,200 pounds but get the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 400 horsepower and you can tow as much as 14,000 pounds when your F-150 is properly equipped. It's worth noting that 14,000 pounds would give you the best towing capability of any full-size truck in America.

The time-honored 5.0-liter V8 comes close to the top with a maximum towing capacity of 13,000 pounds. The diesel V6 is capable of 12,100 pounds and the hybrid can tow as much as 12,700 pounds. Payload capacities range from 1,840 pounds to 3,250 pounds.

Interior comfort and available options

The Ford F-150 has upped its game for 2023 with a deluxe cabin that’s particularly attractive when you get to the higher-end King Ranch, Platinum and Limited models. You'll find premium materials all over the cabin as well as plenty of storage cubbies. Turn the Ford F-150 into a mobile workspace with a 10-speed automatic shift lever that can be folded flat with the center console. You can also fold down the front seats to create a place for sleeping.
